WBCC Members Win Starlight Novice Road Rally

Geraint Parks and Andy Falconer took a well earned win on Wolverhampton and South Staffs car club run Starlight novice rally.
The Parks and Falconer partnership taking shape on only their second outing this year.
The pair only dropprd 1m:31s over a 150mile route, all on map 138,by winning the rally overall by 2m: 23s also matching and beating the top 'local' semi-expert crews.
Three other crews out supporting WBCC were the young pairing of Aled Stephens and Robbie Wood finishing 8th overall on Aled's first event.
Wyn Roberts and Chris 'tank' Young showing good pace early on but then fuel problems deprived them of what would have been a well earned breakfast. Gary Roberts in his brothers 'doer' of a 205, partnered by Daniel Williams also showing good pace. They kept the winners Geraint and Andy on their toes when coming into controls on the following minute, but sadly bottom arm 'trouble' put them out.

WBCC Member Wins Cambrian Road Rally

Dale Furniss sitting alongside Gary Davies took victory on the Cambrian road rally 12/13 January 2008 run by Tregaron Motor Club. The crew started car 1 and held their position over a 110 mile route on the 135 and 147 maps. Clive Williams/Patrick Walsh had been matching the pace of Davies/Furniss but then an overshoot dropped them over a minute behind, only to retire with gear linkage problems. This left Davies/Furniss quickest in the first half by a margin of over four minutes. They were able to relax in the second half still managing to be second fastest and to take the win by just under five minutes.
Geraint Parks / Andy Falconer also out for WBCC had a good night, proving WBCC can do it away from home by taking 2nd in class three and 10th overall. On a very wet night, water troubles may have cost them the class win. But Geraint was more than pleased with the
escort's performance.

WBCC Takes Top Honours in Road Rally Scene

The Welsh Border Car Club took top honours in the 2007 Welsh Association of Motor Clubs Road Rally Championship where they clinched not only the Club Championship, but both the drivers and navigators titles as well as the team award. Fought over 11 road rallies throughout the year the Welsh Border Car Club boys were on fine form, taking 6 wins and 19 top 3 positions saw Mark 'GT' Roberts, Ian 'Dude' Roberts and Glyn Price take the top 3 positions in the drivers championship.
Proving that it really is a team sport Dale Furniss took top honours in the navigators championship with 3 wins and a total of 5 podium finishes. Iwan Jones finished the season in 3rd position whilst 'Team Havoc', comprising of Mark and Ian Roberts, co-driven respectively by Steve Price and Dale Furniss, took the team award by a dominant margin.
Speaking at the end of the season, Club Chairman Dave Evison was more than happy with how the year had panned out. "This has been one of the most successful years for the Welsh Border Car Club. With GT winning the drivers title and Dale dominating the navigators championship it has been a great 12 months. To top it off the Border 100 Road Rally, one of our most prestigious events, was ranked at number 6 in the recent Motorsport News 'Best Event of the Year' survey."

The 2008 Welsh Association of Motor Clubs Road Rally Championship begins at the end of February but already the boys have been busy. Dale recently took a 6 minute victory on the non-championship Cambrian Road Rally last weekend.
